Webby Sessions

We're thrilled to reveal the first of this year's Webby Sessions taking place at Internet Week New York!

The Webby Sessions are a series of panels and discussions touching on the latest Internet trends and inspirations specially curated by us. Each day, we will bring you thought-provoking content and leaders representing the very best of the web.

The first Webby Session is taking place on Monday, May 20 at 11am and will feature the incredibly popular, engaging, uplifting, and Webby Winning photo blog Humans of New York.

Photographer Brandon Stanton will join Webby Executive Director, David-Michel Davies to discuss the Internet's ability to foster altruism and build supportive community along with sharing the meteoric rise of his blog over the past couple of years.

We look forward to sharing ideas from some of our most inspiring Webby winners, judges, and friends.

Join us at Internet Week HQ. Tickets are on sale now

FUNNY OR DIE, LOS ANGELES
Hilarious videos and Webby Award wins aside, you know an office is going to be pretty cool when there’s a parking spot reserved for “Will F.”

ASOS, LONDON
The Webby team was excited to visit one of our favorite online retailers, ASOS, while in London. We even got a behind the scenes look at the studio and the ASOS runway, where the team shoots every item for sale on the site.

POOL WORLDWIDE, AMSTERDAM
We were lucky enough to visit Pool Worldwide only a few months after they moved in to their new offices. Pool Worldwide’s sleek interior was a sharp contrast from the gritty environment of Rembrandt Square in central Amsterdam. The digital agency is behind some amazing work, including a recent campaign for TomToms with Bert and Ernie.

CUBOCC, SAO PAULO
Since the Sao Paulo government banned outdoor advertising in 2007, the interactive advertising industry is producing some of most interesting work. During our stop there, we visited CUBOCC, “the Monster Whatever Hotshop.” With dark walls, neon lights, and extravagant decor, the CUBOCC office easily secured a spot on this list.

HERRAIZ, SOTO & CO., BARCELONA
Co-founded by IADAS member Rafa Soto, Herraiz, Soto & Co. is one of the top digital shops in Barcelona. The office was built in an old airplane hanger, and was hands-down the largest office we visited.

CNN, ATLANTA
It’s no surprise that the headquarters of the world’s largest broadcasting network ranked as one of the best offices we visited. One interesting thing we learned is that CNN invested in its own proprietary satellite system (real-time map of the satellites shown in the photo). This allowed the network to increase their international coverage by bypassing the costly and prohibitive process of renting satellite time.

BBH, NEW YORK CITY
Located in the West Village, BBH New York had one of the most stunning views we’d seen on the entire tour. The team at BBH New York is behind the Google Chrome and It Gets Better collaboration, a hugely successful project whose creator Dan Savage was recognized at the 2011 Webby Awards.

WIEDEN+KENNEDY, PORTLAND
The 2011 Webby Agency of the Year is renowned for transforming an abandoned warehouse into their amazing Portland headquarters. With a beautiful center atrium, awesome art pieces, and a basketball court, W+K’s offices are equal parts well-designed, playful, and smart - just like their team.

The Webby Talks World Tour has now come to an end. Over the past four months, our team visited nearly 200 companies in 25 cities around the world - meaning that in addition to racking up frequent flier miles, we saw our fair share of offices. One thing we learned is that an office is a good indicator of a company’s culture and personality. For the next ten days, we will post the coolest, most interesting offices (and teams) we visited on our tour, starting with…
THE BOSTON GLOBE, BOSTON
At The Boston Globe, we got a sneak peek at how one of the country’s leading publishers is embracing the Internet. The Globe has a new media lab inside of their offices for the purposes of hosting hackdays, developing new products and experimenting. The photo here features a live geo-tagged map of people mentioning hashtags like #Boston on Instagram and Twitter.
