Webby Nights December 2009

Last week we hosted an event in Berlin and London each, in partnership with our Webby Ambassadors in both countries, Horst Liebetrau from Upside in Dusseldorf, Germany, and Nicolas Roope of POKE London.

It was such a great time! First up was Berlin on November 30, held at night club Bar Tausend.  Each speaker had a 5-minute limit and was asked to speak about something interesting they are doing or enjoying on the Internet. Here’s the full list of speakers:

Sergius Seebohm (ONE Deutschland)

Holger Risse (Jürgen und ich)

Yousef Hammoudah (MTV Networks)

Tina Gerstenberg (Trendonomy & eventpaten)

Sven John (Greenkern Group)

Nicolas Roope (POKE London)

David-Michel Davies (The Webby Awards)

Stefanie Hoffmann (aka-aki networks)

We met wonderful people while we were there and went the next day to visit the crew at Less Rain (who have a gorgeous workspace in Berlin Mitte).

Then we hopped over to London to attend Webby Night at the Mother Atrium in Shoreditch, East London.  Speakers there were also limited to 5 minutes maximum and were asked to be fun and interesting — no selling or pitching allowed! Here’s who graced the stage:

David-Michel Davies (The Webby Awards)

David McCandless - Author of Information is Beautiful

Rob Manuel - Creator of b3ta.com

Joel Veitch - Rathergood.com

Jonathan from Spotify

Paul Graham - Anomaly London

Mike Bollen, a.k.a. cassetteboy

We really enjoyed meeting everyone and hearing from the local Internet industry leaders and innovators.  Visit our Flickr albums to see photos from Berlin and from London.  And stay tuned to our Webby YouTube Channel for event video coming soon from Berlin — with subtitles!
