What We're Doing
Webby Talks is our unique view into the ever-changing landscape of what's happening online, designed to provoke and inspire by highlighting some of the most innovative work and trends on the Internet. Last year, Team Webby visited nearly 200 companies in 25 cities around the world, including Wieden + Kennedy, The BBC, Funny or Die, Disney, BBH, and more. This year we're excited to hit the road for round two to meet even more companies and people at the fore developing the Creative Web.
Join us as we visit the industry's leading companies in technology, advertising and media to bring you exclusive interviews, videos, photos and more, from all around the globe! See our Tour Schedule to find out when we'll be in your city.
About the Presentation
Webby Talks runs about 30-45 minutes. We've presented to groups as small as 10 and as large as 200. We like to keep the topics fluid, so we can continue to add and update as things we travel across the globe - we feel this makes the best and most interesting presentation for our audience! But more specifically, we cover recent trends happening in all corners of the web - interactive advertising, social media, content creation and distribution, different technological innovations and more.
Below are some of the topics that you might hear about if you attend Webby Talks:
- The Cashless Society: With the rise of innovative mobile technology — from virtual shopping centers like Home Plus in South Korea to mobile apps like Level Up and Square's Card Case — it's never been easier to purchase and shop without using any physical cash at all. The landscape of currency is being revolutionized for consumers, but also for businesses, who are using these tools to deliver better products and services.
- Big Data: As our use of the Internet grows, so does the amount of information we share with the web. As we become increasingly active Internet users, many are concerned with the implications this may have for our privacy. However, the uses for data collection are as wide-ranging as the data itself; the key for businesses is to learn how to use data to benefit their customers without edging into creepy behavior.
- Real-Time Entertainment: The web has been entertaining us since its birth. But now, with the help of innovative platforms and advancing technology, we are able to enjoy content on the web in real-time and in a more engaging and interactive way than ever before.
